
The Senate President of Environmental Commission, Rodrigo Rollemberg (PSB-DF), invited the representatives of the U.S. oil company Chevron to provide information on Thursday about the oil spill in the Frade Field, Campos Basin, identified last week. At the same hearing, the committee will hear representatives of the National Agency of Oil, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP), the Brazilian Institute of Environmental and Natural Resources (IBAMA), the Federal Prosecutor and Chief of Environment and Heritage Federal Police, Fabio Scliar. In last March 4th,Chevron announced the emergence of newoil slick on the sea surface near the place where the first leak in November last year. Technical ANP staff has identified in last Thursday, five leakage points along a fissure of 800 meters long through filming underwater. According to the official regulatory public body, the oil flow was reduced. Seventeen executives and professionals from Chevron Brazil, including President George Raymond Buck III, Transocean of Brazil, are prevented from leaving the country, unless they obtain judicial authorization.
