Mayor of Houston has visited Petrobras Center of Research

The mayor of Houston, from United States, Annise Parker, has visited on march 29 th (last Thursday) the Center of Research of Petrobras, located at Ilha do Fundão, in Rio de Janeiro. Among her committee, were included oil and gas industry and Texas university representatives, all of them were hosted by the General manager of Research and Development and Fuel Providing and Bio Fuels, Alipio Ferreira. Upon the visit to the laboratories of fluid and phisical chemistry of rocks and Visualization and Cooperation Center, the Mayor highlighted the technology advances reached by the energy industry over the last decades. “The available tools we have nowadays are quite different than we had 20 years ago, this is all too much sophisticated and amazing” said the Mayor. Regarded as the Oil and Gas Industry pole in US, Houston is the headquarter city of major oil companies, including Petrobras. The relationship between Petrobras and the north-american City includes also technology cooperation. “We need to be in contact with the world, and not isolated. We have ongoing projects with Texas University, National University, Rice University and others located in the city” added Alipio Ferreira. Petrobras is present in the US, since 1987, it has begun, from couple of months ago, the production on the Cascade field with its first FPSO to operate in Mexican Golf at American portion. Petrobras Company is very engaged with oil production on the region. We hope to grow and having lot of investments out there” said the Petrobras Executive Manager for America, Africa and Eurasia, Fernando Cunha. According to the Houston mayor, the perspectives are positive of growing. “Considering the work Petrobras has done in the world and its oil and gas expertise and services rendered in Houston, we do believe that our relationship will keep up growing”, she declared.
