Saipem Company, engineering, building its base in Brazil

Saipem, a subsidiary of Italian group Eni and one of the largest providers of engineering services in the oil sector, will invest $ 300 million to build a mounting base of pipelines and subsea equipment for exploration and production of oil and gas in Brazil. The facility will occupy an area of 350.000 square meters in the industrial complex naval Guarujá in São Paulo, and will be completed in 2014. The facility will meet part of the $ 1.3 billion in contracts that the company has with Petrobras and future ventures. The company is the target of heated demand for subsea equipment in the pre-salt. With the unit, the Italian multinational company also plans to increase domestic content in their products. The investment was made on Wednesday (28) for the major oil companies in operation in the country, an event organized by Saipem in Rio de Janeiro, among the guests were representatives of Petrobras, Statoil, OGX, BP, BG, among other companies. Initially, the facility will house two ongoing projects for Petrobras: a pipeline for the Cernambi field in the Santos Basin and the "trunk line" - the duct that connects the platform to the sea coast – Cabiúnas, 380 km long and 24 inches in diameter, connecting the Lula field in the Santos basin, to station Cabiúnas in Rio de Janeiro.
