President Dilma Rouseff said security rule must be fulfilled

By participating in yesterday's inauguration of the new director general of the National Petroleum Agency (ANP), Magda Chambriard, President Rousseff sent a message to oil companies operating in Brazil. Without mentioning the name of Chevron, Dilma said that companies should know that security protocols are meant to be met. In November, the American oil Company spilled about 2,400 barrels of oil in the Frade field in the Campos Basin, for an alleged error in the calculation of pressure to drill the well. The President also pointed out that companies and ANP should act responsibly and take concrete actions to ensure operational safety and environmental protection:"We all know that ANP is in charge to administrate and regulate this business. We all know that it is up the ANP to monitor malpractice accidents , breach of safety standards." Present at the ceremony, the Minister of Mines and Energy, Edison Lobao also talked about the importance of complying with the law, reminiscent of the current cases of oil spill. Dilma also said during her speech on the importance of maintaining the contracts already established in Brazil. "That which depend on my government, this is a country in which contracts, agreements, rules, agreements will always be observed accurately. We will work daily to build up a country where commitments are respected, and above all, to honor a signature applied on a document.Source:NN-Translation:EGE
