New director of ANP says the challenge will be to ensure production and consumption of ethanol

Rio de Janeiro - A civil engineer Magda Maria Regina Chambriard took over on March 21st (Wednesday), as director general of National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP), in a ceremony that was attended by the President Rousseff. In her speech, she was thanked for the invitation done by President Dilma Rousseff to assume the position and noted that it is the first time a woman is sworn-in board of the Agency. She noted that one of the main challenges of her administration will "ensure the production and consumption of ethanol levels that the country
needs." The president praised the professionalism of Magda Chambriard that," for 32 years, she has been consistently recognized" when acting in the oil sector. She added that the choice is symbolic for Brazilian women by Chambriard have come to office for competence, merit and dedication. The new director of the ANP took office earlier this month after her appointment was published in the Official Gazette on March 8th. She replaces Haroldo Lima, whose mandate ended on December 11 th. Since then, the position was being filled by an interim director Florival Rodrigues de Carvalho. The director general is, since 2008, one of four directors of the Agency.

That year, she advised the interministerial committee created by former President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva to study the rules of exploration and production of oil and gas in the pre-salt.

She also coordinated the studies that resulted in certification of the assets to the capitalization of Petrobras. As a retired employee of Petrobras, Chambriard joined to ANP in 2002 as advisor to the board.Source:Fator-Translation EGE
